I don’t have any connection with any of these people or companies… In fact, the way I selected the particular listings was to look for items that had just been listed. I have dealt with some companies on Ebay for similar items, but I did not give anyone a preference.
#10. Miller 210 Mig Welder. If you are going to play hardcore, you have to be able to melt steel together. I picked up my 210 amp welder a few years ago (Hobart… shares parts with the Miller). I actually enjoy the rare times I get to burn steel together… Take that Rosie O’Donnell… metal burns…
#9. Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 51 Plasma Cutter. If you are going to burn steel together… might as well have a toy tool to cut it apart. I have a Miller 375… and would love to have something with a little more power…
#8. Craftsman Powder Coating System. It’s tougher than paint, and is great on things that need to tough… and pretty. I haven’t used this system, but I will mention that one needs an oven in addition to the gun and powders… don’t use the one in the itchen, or the next birthday cake will taste like poo…
#7. Hansen Socket Trays. I have a set of these, and for box storage, I think they are great. The limitation is that they aren’t convenient to drag under the Jeep with me, like the good ol’ rail system. However, they maximize the space in the socket drawer, and make the sockets VERY easy to find.
#6. SnapOn Roll Cab. Since we have all of the groovy tools… we need a box. I guess we can go for broke. These boxes are seriously stout. Now, as a little bonus, if you are on a budget, I have a box like this, and it is pretty good. One of the keys to working efficiently in the garage is to have the tools… and be able to find them.
#5. SnapOn Ratcheting Combo Wrenches. I have a set of the Craftsmen version of these wrenches. They are one of the “go-to” tool in the box. I have them in racks (one for metric, and one for SAE) and they spend a lot of time in the fire of fire. They are slimmer than a ratchet, and very convenient to use.
#4. Fat Max Xtreme FU BAR. Ok, I don’t care what it does… it’s called a FU BAR… I have to get one of these… just for the name. I think it is for property destruction… demolition… on purpose. I guess I could use it to start the expansion of my garage.
#3. HDC Metal Cutting Band Saw. I got a metal cutting band saw a few years ago. I love it. It is so much quieter and more precise than a chop saw. I can chuck something up on it, and then do something else. It doesn’t shoot dust and fire all over the shop
(I still have grinders, so I can make fiery dust as needed).
#2. Hitachi DV18DL Lithium Cordless Hammer Drill. I don’t think that I use any tool more than my cordless drill. Personally, i have a Bosch… but it is about8 years old, and may need to be replaced soon. I’m liking these Lithium powered drills. But, my wife CONSTANTLY thinks up new things for me to use this tool on.
#1. A Project. Every garage NEEDS a project. What good are all of the cool tools if there is no project. In fact, it could be a tool. It allows us to use all of the other tools. How is that for the ultimate in utility? You could make your own Doc Hudson.
