Get ready to cheer for Lilburn’s Eric Shanteau
Parkview High School alum Eric Shanteau has made the US Olympic Swimming Team, competing in the 200 Meter Breast stroke. He finished 3rd in the 2004 Trials in both the 200m and 400m Individual Medleys, just barely missing the team.
That, in an of itself, would be an amazing accomplishment. His list of swimming accomplishments is long and illustrious. Parkview High School records, Georgia State High School records… Take a look here…
But, there is something else. Eric is fighting testicular cancer. At 24 years old. No whining. Instead, he is showing the same determination that has pushed him to acheive all that he has acheived. NBC published a story about him being inspirational. No doubt. He didn’t tell anyone about it until after the Trials.
BTW, his older brother Ryan, one of my clients, was not a swimming slouch either, competing for GA Tech after setting records for Parkview.
So, if you don’t get the chance to watch anything else during the Olympics, tune in and cheer on Eric in the 200 meter Breast stroke.
I’ll post up video and results after the event. I’ll also try to bug Ryan for some pictures after the event…
What is Hyper-Local Content, and why do you care?
Not really a sexy topic…
But, one of the more important things we can talk about. Let’s start with a definition…
Hyper-Local Content is writing about a certain specific area. For example, writing about the goings on, events, properties and market activity for Lilburn, GA… as opposed to writing about the Atlanta market or the national housing picture.
I would be the first to say that the Atlanta housing market is important. Even the national picture is worthy of examination, but for those of us in and around Lilburn, what is happening on Main Street is more important than what is happening on Peachtree Street.
In the next couple of weeks we will be rolling out a hyper-local blog about Lilburn, GA. We will be talking about properties on the market, transactions, market trends, local businesses, places to go, people to meet and things to do. We’ll talk about Parkview Football, and we’ll talk about developments.
If you are a local business, and would like to write a post, let me know. Not an ad… a post. Got a garage sale? Selling your home without an agent? Think someone should be profiled? Shoot me an email.
Stay tuned for the new web address and the announcement that it is ready to go.

Dirty Little Real Estate Secret…
I keep seeing and hearing about “dirty little secrets” that real estate agents won’t tell their clients. Most of them turn out to be pretty stupid points. However, today while going through my morning routine (dead-heading, so my brain needed something to do) I thought of the dirty little secret that FSBO companies don’t tell their customers.
Small is the new Big… in trains, too.
Each year, the Smokerise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain hosts a gathering of model train enthusiasts. They come from three different clubs, and from as far away as Chattanooga to play with their trains… and let the public watch. Frankly, it is pretty cool. And this happens to be the weekend. It is generally the last weekend in July… so if you can’t visit on Sunday, July 27th, then mark your calendar for next year.
Lane’s New Video Channel
I have just struck a deal with The Video Connector to provide video content for my sites. Look for lots of cool videos from Tara and TJ from Reel Productions. They have been the providers of my video tours for a couple of years now, and really have a handle on the real estate market. Enjoy.
