In western Germany, about 75 miles northwest of Frankfurt, there is a track… some would say the ultimate track… called Nurburgring, or simply “The Ring”. It was built in the 1920s around the village and castle of Nurburg. Originally, it was about 17.5 miles long, and had 174 turns. Today’s North Loop (the Nordschleife) is about 13 miles and has 73 turns (although there are more than 100 recognized bends).
Ready for a lap?
Maybe you’d rather see one of racing’s greatest drivers on the track, Juan Miguel Fangio, in 1957.
And don’t worry, for a mere €21 you can take your car (or your rental) out on the track and play… although the presence of timing gear in your car may void your insurance coverage.
