Those in the culture call them “Hot Rods“, and they are… but they are a special kind of Hot Rod.  There are a lot of definitions and ideas that surround Rat Rods.  The are period correct Hot Rods, or Original Hot Rods.  Some call them just junk…

But they are cool.  They certainly have a solid connection with the history of hot rodding. And they are polarizing.  A lot of the “chromers” hate them… a lot of the rest of us LOVE them.  They have humor, irony and inventiveness.  They aren’t gloss, they are business, although there are some historically correct hot rods that many would call rat rods that are quite showy… actually, I like the ones that are rougher around the edges…
