• Toyota Camry – Seriously…  Nobody EVER dreams of one day owning a Camry.  Teenage girls do not swoon when a guy drive up in a Camry.  Mid-life crisis NEVER involve buying a Camry.
  • Buick Enclave – Buick is NOT the “Excitement Division” of GM.  And the Enclave?  A Sport Utility Vehicle that isn’t Sporty… and lack Utility.  ok, at least it is a vehicle.
  • Kia Amanti – Planet of the Mutant’s styling.  it looks like several vehicles had parts put in a blender… and the result lack any semblance of cohesion.  And it has performance so compelling that Kia doesn’t list it on their website…
  • Ford Expedition – Mediocrity in a sea of averageness.  Why bother?  Is it the lackluster off-road performance?  Is it the lackluster on-road performance?  Maybe is the “Shrinking Violet” styling…
  • Dodge Avenger – It even lacks the cool hood from the Chrysler Sebring sedan…  With the 2.4L engine, I think they listed it as 0-60: Yes.
  • Hyundai Elantra – Hyundai is looking to take the “Boring Crown” from Buick.  The Elantra is their yawn flagship.  It has styling that says it was designed by the people that draw boring kids cartoons for low budget Public Broadcasting… and performance that rivals the viewing audience on skateboards.  Too bad I limited selections to one per manufacturer.
  • Honda Element – What can I say?  People actually bought these on purpose?  Maybe they bought one because Scion was out of xAs…  At least those were reasonably creative.  The Element is just drab.
  • Jeep Commander – Wow.  Take the light and attractive Cherokee (XJ) and when resurecting the design, make it look overweight.  Add that to seriously lacking on and off-road performance… Like I said, Wow.
  • Chevy Equinox – Not comfortable to sit on their laurels with the Chevy Uplander… they brought out the Equinox.  It they took the badges off of it, you would swear it was a Hyundai… it is THAT boring.
  • Pontiac G5 – Redefines “yawn.”  At least it is obviously a Pontiac… but not the G8GXP or GTO cool kind… rather the Grand Am kind.

As a bonus, the two most boring companies are Toyota and Hyundai.  Hyundai doesn’t seem to be familiar with the idea of performance yet, and toyota has abandoned it.  The faster Toyota is a truck…  The fastest Hyundai is whatever someone can push out of the back of a C-130.

Toyota at least used to have some cool rides…  MR2, Celica All-Trac, FX16.  But they have maintained as the largest manufacturer in the world without any sort of flagship in the Toyota line.  They have some talented people designing at Lexus… maybe they could get them for a few hours down the hall…
