Norcross, GA Market Report – April, 2010

Lane Bailey - Tuesday, 29 June 2010 08:16

Norcross, GA is a suburb of Atlanta in Gwinnett County. The population is 2000 was 8,41, but that only included the area inside the city limits, and it has seen tremendous growth since that census. The City of Norcross revamped their old town a long time ago, and it has served as a model for other towns in the area. It is also home to Meadow Creek and Norcross High Schools. One of the things that Norcross is known for locally is the beautiful older homes in the downtown area. They have maintained their historic flair quite successfully.

Buford, GA is a suburb of Atlanta in Gwinnett and Hall Counties. The population is 2000 was 10,668, but that only included the area inside the city limits, and it had seen tremendous growth since that census.  Buford is home to Lake Lanier, one of Georgia’s premiere recreational areas, and Lake Lanier Islands.  Recently, the City of Buford has revamped their old town. It is also home to Buford (Buford City Schools aren’t a part of Gwinnett County Schools), Mill Creek, Mountain View and Lanier High School (Lanier will open for the 2010-11 school year).

Sugar Hill, GA, Market Report – April, 2010

Lane Bailey - Tuesday, 22 June 2010 08:51

Sugar Hill, GA is a suburb of Atlanta in Gwinnett County. The population is 2000 was 11,399, but that only included the area inside the city limits.  The name comes from a bag of Sugar that spilled on a hill while in transit between Cumming and the railroad in Buford.  And while it is actually a big market, it is in the shadows of Lawrenceville, Duluth and Suwanee… which all are nearby.  That also makes it a great location, as it is close to everything that Gwinnett County, GA has to offer.

53 Cool Concept Cars… Part XI

I have a fascination with Rat Rods.  I think they are very cool.  I like that they boil everything down to the essence of hot rodding… but they are a wide and varied group of cars.  Of course, we think about the junkyard rats, but the genre also includes some pretty serious customs… and some paint that is unbelievable.

But I still like the “Classic Rats”… all steel cars in satin black (or mixed color panels) with junkyard swaps and few nods to comfort… just performance.

So here is the question…

Could a car company create an ‘off the showroom floor’ Rat rod?

I think it certainly COULD be done… and one of the cars that leaps to mind for a ‘Factory Rat’ would be the Dodge Challenger.

Picture it with:

  • 6.1L SRT-8 Hemi… 425+ horsepower
  • Backed by a 6 speed manual transmission
  • Painted ‘satin’ black for the primer look
  • Satin Black wheels to complete the look
  • Find a cool graphic, like Wile E Coyote chasing the Road Runner for the rear quarter panel
  • Give it a little ‘rake’ by dropping the front about an inch
  • Make sure that it has a ‘posi’ rear end so that it could put the power down…
  • Drop a tach on the hood like a lot of the 60s muscle cars did
  • Use the smallest side view mirrors allowed by law

I’m sure that we could come up with a LOT of other details… but you get the idea.  Give it a little ‘Evil Attitude’…

Suwanee, GA Market Report – April, 2010

Lane Bailey - Thursday, 17 June 2010 08:34

Suwanee, GA is a suburb of Atlanta in Gwinnett, Forsyth and (just a little bit) in Fulton Counties. The population is 2000 was 8,725, but that only included the area inside the city limits, and it had seen tremendous growth since that census.  Money Magazine rated Suwanee in the “Top 10 Best Places to Live” in 2007, and it is one of the wealthiest parts of Georgia. Recently, the City of Suwanee has revamped their old town, adding a large park with a bandshell, condos, town homes and small businesses. It is also home to North Gwinnett High School, Peachtree Ridge and Collins Hill.
