Survey of New Listings…

Lane Bailey - Tuesday, 30 December 2009 11:09

I just ran a survey of the newly listed properties from the last 30 days.  I have to say that I am quite surprised by what I found…

I was looking specifically for how the listings were presented.  We know from every bit of research done on buyer behavior that photos and virtual tours are

Back towards reality…

Lane Bailey - Monday, 29 December 2009 11:41

Christmas is behind us, and New Year’s Day is right around the corner.

If you are thinking that 2009 might be the year to buy a home, this is the time to start the planning process.  Unlike years past, buying a house in the current climate may take a little more work.

To start with

Video Sunday… it isn’t just the cars…

Lane Bailey - Sunday, 28 December 2008 01:06

I am a die-hard car guy.  I love the machines.  They are history, technology and excitement.  But they aren’t the only story.  They are certainly important, but they are tools… tools are utilized and achieve their glory at the hands of gifted craftsmen.

This is about the gifted craftsmen.  They are legion.  There are hundreds of drivers that have left their impression in the world of racing, as well as the larger world.

Fangio, Nuvolari, Shelby, Penske, Schumacher, Petty.  I could go on forever…

101 Cars, Part 26

Lane Bailey - Saturday, 27 December 2008 06:40

I am actually going to cover two cars here because they are somewhat related.

If you have been following along, I have a little fascination with “special” cars that were released for street classes of racing with major sanctioning bodies.  The car companies have long know that “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” was a great idea.  Even if people weren’t coming in to buy a hot machine, they at least wanted to look at them.  The traffic meant that sales would go up…  There were a LOT of 6 cylinder Mustangs and Camaros and Javelins that found their way into people garages because of

Underdogs… and why they are fun!

Lane Bailey - Friday, 26 December 2008 12:30

I have a general preference for underdogs.  I can’t say for sure why, but I can make up a few good reasons… caps_pens01

  • What fun is it to cheer for the team that always wins?  There isn’t any suspense.  When you cheer for the underdog, the outcome is in doubt… it also makes the wins sweeter!
  • I guess I have a hero complex.  I didn’t like to see kids getting bullied on the playground as a kid, and I would rather throw my support to the “bullied” than to the “bully”.
  • Often the favorite isn’t the best… just the most popular.  It isn’t just true in sports, but in politics and many other areas.

There are a LOT of great underdogs to cheer for.  Some are just for fun, others are more serious.

Look for my list of the Top Ten Underdogs coming up before New Year’s Eve…
