Lane’s 10 Best New American Cars
Listening to the mainstream media, you wouldn’t know that there are at least 10 cars from American car makers that you can wander into the dealership and buy RIGHT NOW that are kicking the butts out from under anything coming out of Japan, Germany, Korea… or anywhere else.
Here is a sample:
3 Cars That Signal the World (Pt. 1)
For years some people have complained that American cars couldn’t compete with cars from Japan and Europe. And while that might have been the case at one time, it certainly isn’t the case now…
Here are some American Cars that can go head to head with the best in the World… and WIN!

This was a vehicle of firsts…
At a time when most station wagons were made with a large quantity of wood, Willys (Jeep) came out with the first all steel wagon. Interestingly enough, they called in the All Steel Wagon. But that wasn’t the only first…
The Willys All Steel Wagon is widely regarded as the first SUV.
It was in production from 1946 to 1963. And it was “powered” by engines ranging from the 134ci Go-Devil (60 amazing horsepower) to the 230ci Tornado (140 astounding horsepower). And the Tornado has it’s own first… it was the first American built overhead cam engine. It was also the only engine that was designed, built and exclusively used in Jeeps in North America.

In 2004, Jeep introduced a concept… and I know that there were a LOT of people that thought it was one of the coolest concepts they had ever brought out. Take a little Dodge 1-ton truck, add some Jeep influences, a dollop of 37″ tires and mix liberally. A diesel engine, generator, on-board air compressor and enough other cool gadgets to help it be a competent rescue vehicle were also included.
Jeep never saw fit to bring this Hummer killer to market, though. Too bad… However, there are a lot of influences from the Rescue that made it into the latest Jeep Wrangler, the JK.
