Smokerise Baptist Church Car Show – TODAY… Rain or Shine
Last year’s show was delayed a week because of weather, and it still managed to rain at various times through the day, but some very cool vehicles came out for the show. In addition to cars and trucks, there were some cool vintage motorcycles.
Here is a little taste of the action from 2009.
Say Goodbye to the Stone Mountain Super Target…
Originally built in 1999, the Super Target located in the shadow of Stone Mountain, next to the old Olympic Tennis Venue, will be closing as of January 30th, 2010. Faced with declining profits from the store, Target is pulling the plug.
Stone Mountain Highland Games this weekend

Each year, during the third weekend in October, Scots gather in the meadow at Stone Mountain Park. For 37 years the Stone Mountain Highland Games have not only provided cool athletic competition, but also a great musical performances and social interactions.
I have been to a few of the events over the years and enjoyed watching athletic events like the Caber Toss (this is throwing a telephone pole, kids…), the Hammer Throw and the Sheaf Toss.
I’m also a sucker for bagpipe music.
Hit up the Stone Mountain Highland Games website for more info. Events start Friday evening and continue through Sunday. There IS an additional charge to get into the meadow, aside from the park’s entry fee.

Thanksgiving and parades…
I’ve been watching some of the NBC and CBS coverage of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. My wife is a (semi)reformed band geek, so she wanted to see the parade. Also, since WCC (World’s Cutest Child) likes parades, we had a triple reason to tune in (1 for the wife, and 2 for the kid).
Football Night in America… ok, Lilburn
We just got back from a fun event. Ok, if I were a serious fan of Parkview, it might not have been as fun… but if I were a serious fan of Brookwood, it would have been a hoot. But, I’m not going to actually talk about the game, except in the most circumspect of ways. I want to talk about the event.
Despite our best intentions, we didn’t get up to Parkview High School until almost 7:15. Since the game was scheduled to start at 7:30, we thought it would be ok… and if it weren’t for the fact that the average fan was parking no closer than Snellville (where everybody is somebody!), that would have been plenty of time. So, we saw people walking a mile away… and I was thinking that with a pregnant wife and a three year old,
Lane’s New Video Channel
I have just struck a deal with The Video Connector to provide video content for my sites. Look for lots of cool videos from Tara and TJ from Reel Productions. They have been the providers of my video tours for a couple of years now, and really have a handle on the real estate market. Enjoy.
