I was wandering around the web the other day looking at real estate agent web sites… and much like real estate agent ads, there is a theme… a theme I can’t really get on board with.

I just got an email about 5 properties that are brand new and are part of a bank foreclosure sale. One of the most dangerous parts of buying a foreclosed home is that they are often suffering from “deferred maintenance.” Since these are brand new, they shouldn’t have as many possible issues.
What most people would immediately jump to is that the homes are pretty heavily discounted.
I have been wondering about this…
Many real estate agents require registration for their property search. I haven’t done that since I have been in control of my website… and don’t intend to ever require registration. But… I wonder about having registration for access to my market reports.
I actually work quite hard to really interpret the data. There are plenty of “market reports” that just toss out some data without putting it in any sort of perspective or giving an interpretation of the data. Who cares if 58 properties sold last month… if you don’t know how many sold last year or the month before last… or why there might have been a change?
I just wonder… would you register to get more in-depth market data with interpretation and perspective?
I have been beta testing a new CRM (Client relationship Manager) for SoftRealty, my IDX (Internet Data eXchange… the real estate search utility) supplier for GarageHomesUSA. You can actually click on “Property Search” on the toolbar above and it will take you right there. Basically, they are trying to amp up the quality of real estate search tools.
The Virginia Association of Realtors National Blog Brawl has reached round 2. It is going to be a tough round. Matthew Rathbun is a VERY well known blogger in the real estate realm, and he has a great blog for real estate agents, TheAgentTrainer. You should visit his blog… there are some great tips.
But he is also my competition for this round. And in order to advance, I have to win…
