Sometimes racing goes over the top…  I mean really…  over… the… top…

But, I think it is human nature to want to know what it’ll do… and test it against someone else.

So, today I had to pick up food for a group picnic from Costco. 75 hungry people were counting on me for dinner… but I digress.

As I wandered through the store, they were offering the samples that make the trip much like grazing. One of the offerings was turkey burgers… oooh, aah… exotic. I had my sample of the turkey burger… and just like any other hamburger, with just a little less edge… slightly more bland.

Just after I had my little slice of burger, I watched (in horror?) a mother, grandmother and son with their samples…

I love a good junk yard.

The LA Times recently had a photo essay on the findings in an Oklahoma junkyard.  Phil Skinner, Editor of Kelley Blue Book’s Official Guide for Early Model Cars visited this yard and spied a few treasures.

Here is a link to the story

I love a good junkyard… but it is sad to see some of the incredible vehicles that won’t see the road again…

There were a couple of posts on Active|Rain today that reminded me of a situation I encountered a couple of years ago.  It was a short sale/foreclosure.  Let me summarize the posts that made me think about this… Continue Reading »

Just ask my wife.  And I have a LOT of tools… again, feel free to ask my wife.

I have a wide variety.  Welder, Plasma Cutter, Bandsaw, air tools and compressor, hand tools… LOADS of tools.  In fact, the biggest issue I face with my tools is organized tool storage.  And that is a whole different post.

Back to the tools…  Continue Reading »

There are a couple of things going on here at the moment.  Here is the basic run down:

  • Tagging all of the posts.
  • Fixing links.
  • Editing content presentation.

Basically, I have been really bad about tagging posts.  The tag cloud was terribly incomplete.  So, I have been going back and tagging posts for a week now.  There are over 400 posts… lots of them need to be tagged.

After the tagging is complete, I need to go back into the older Blog Anthologies and fix the links so that they point here instead of the old Blogger platform that I don’t use any more.  I also need to fix other links from post to post to make sure they are linking to the current platform.

Finally, I am changing the longer posts to include a “Read More” tab to make the post use up less real estate on the front page.  Shorter posts won’t be affected, but the longer posts won’t require endless scrolling to get to the next entry.

In all, I want to make the blog friendlier for readers.  None of this is really going to affect the search engine optimization of the site (fixing the links may…), but it will make the site much easier to navigate.

Thank you for your patience.

I am a racer at heart.  I always want to find a way to do it better, faster and more efficiently.  But, you know… that doesn’t mean that the only racing has to cost millions of dollars and require travelling around the country.  Or the world.

We’ve had to adjust the prices for two offered properties in the last two days.  These are both great deals compared to their comps. Continue Reading »

Outside. In is a website devoted to neighborhood news.  I’ll be sending my feeds there.  Currently there are only feeds coming in from major media, but I think we will start to see more blogs and other media geo-tagging their content.

Of course, this is in addition to Localism, which is a site dedicated to hyper-local content, of which I am also a part.

These sites, as well as other emerging sites are all doing similar things.  The primary goal is to let people find out what is going on where they live.  International news is important.  National news is also important.  We need to keep up with what happens under the Gold Dome in Atlanta… but knowing what is happening where we live is vital.  Property values and quality of life are impacted mightily by what happens on a neighborhood level.

Odd… the world wide web is making it easier to find out what is happening next door.
