New listing coming later in the week…

I am in the process of building the website for the property… I don’t have the final address, so I am not going to publish it until later in the week… and thought I would give you a sneak preview.

This is a really cool property.  It has two 2 car garages, one attached and one detached.  It has 4 bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms as well as a full finished basement.

The real star of the show is the setting.  It sits on 3 acres, and has a long meandering driveway leading up to the house.  It is truly a country experience, but still close to everything in Lilburn.

If you can’t wait to find out more, give me a call or shoot me a message.

Get a jump on Earth Day this weekend…

Earth Day is April 22nd, but you can get a jump on it this weekend in Gwinnett County.  There are a couple of events that might be of interest.

Grand Re-Opening of the Recycling Bank of Gwinnett

In June of last year, the Recycling Bank of Gwinnett burned to the ground.  For the last 10 months or so, Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful has been rebuilding the center to make it bigger and better than it had been before the fire.

They will be opening it up to the public on April 18th, and celebrating with tours, give-aways and educational activities.

The coolest part is that they will be able to recycle 35 different materials.  This is up from seven, which is what most of the haulers currently handle in Gwinnett County.  We’ve been saving up cardboard just waiting…

Earth Day at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center

They are having a big event at the GEHC.  I have written a little about it previously, so feel free to get a little background here.

The event includes a fun run, an expo and kids activities.  The center is pretty cool, and worth a visit anytime.  But, when you throw in a parade…  Well, Saturday, April 18th should be a little cooler.  Personally, I am kind of curious about the REI Peak Maze.

Look for pics later if we are able to make both events…

Storms rolled through… Trees came down

Tree down near Lilburn

Tree down near Lilburn

Luckily, in this case it wasn’t onto a house.  Our neighbors lost a 125+ year old tree in the side yard.  It fell out into the street and covered the driveway.  It had been a magnificent tree.

WSB-tv came by and saw the tree and used it as a backdrop for their live remote during the 5:00 and 6:00 news.

Garrett and I lent a bit of a hand.  Several of the other neighbors were out there before we found out about the damage.  I also had to run and get a fresh chain for my chainsaw… burning through the branches was a bit too slow.

There were lots of tree down in Gwinnett County and even in Lilburn.  Another neighbor suffered damage to her house when a tree came down on top of it.  There were several homes damaged by trees falling in the wind.

Keep in mind that tornados aren’t the only thing that takes down trees and does damage.  Straight line winds can also be quite dangerous.

What the Hail!?!

The crew was out in Sugar Hill this evening visiting with some out of town family when the skies became angry…

Lightning flashed.  Thunder rolled.  Rain fell.  Hail pelted.

Severe thunderstorms rolled through much of the Atlanta area this evening.  Luckily, we all escaped damage, but it was quite a show as the clouds roiled in the sky and winds blew in different directions.

Have you heard of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Georgia Dream NSP Purchase Plan?

In effect it can provide $14,000 to qualified buyers of qualified properties that can be used as down payment or for re-hab of the purchased property.  And, if the buyer is a First Time Home Buyer, they may also be eligible for the federal tax credit of $8,000.
