Back on November 15th I wrote a post about the new waste management plan for unincorporated Gwinnett County.

Well, scratch that…

The old trash plan is now THE trash plan.  Some of the trash haulers that didn’t win the contract sued.  The plan isn’t happening yet.  A judge has issued a restraining order against Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful implementing the plan as of January 2nd, which had been the target date.

So, everything will remain as normal…

If you have any questions, a call center has been set up at 770-822-7141.  They will begin operations answering constituent questions on Tuesday, December 23rd.  There will also be information available on Gwinnett County’s website.

Most of the questions will revolve around billing I think.  Bills for the new haulers went out earlier this month.

Apparently there are questions revolving around the way the contracts were awarded.  I think that we WILL see the plan implemented in some fashion.  The county is making a tremendous push forward, especially on recycling.  Currently there are 7 types of materials that are recycled, but under the new plan there will be 35 materials.

Stay tuned…

As soon as I run across new information, I will certainly post it.
