Well, my T-Mobile MDA died yesterday.  I went to answer a call and…  screech…  Apparently the speaker gave up the ghost.  I could hear a voice on the other end barely, and that could barely hear me.  But I couldn’t actually talk to someone…  and I couldn’t get voice mail.

For a real estate agent, that is an emergency.

And when the same device is also an eKey (gets me into the vast majority of listings) and my PDA (keeps track of all of my contacts, appointments, noted, email when I’m not at my computer…) it is a BIG emergency.

Off to the T-Mobile store and I am now the owner of a new Blackberry Pearl Flip (8220).  It is a big difference for me.  It is a pretty cool device.  I like the email application more than my old Windows Mobile (WM5) device.  But the calendar and contact manager aren’t seeming as cool to me.  I loved the touch screen of my old device.

One thing that is really cool is that when I am at a HotSpot I can make and recieve phone calls on the wi-fi band instead of using my cellular minutes.  We have T-Mobile HotSpot@Home service and that means that not only do I have wi-fi calling for the house, but anywhere in the world…  That is pretty cool.

Of course, I’m sure that I will update with my impressions of the device.  I will say now that the email is impressive, and I have added the FaceBook app which means I can be more responsive to contacts through FB and email.  I’ll be adding Twitterberry soon.
