Ok, I just have to brag a little bit here.
My 1 year old will officially be 1 year old on Friday. We are having a party for him on Friday here at the house… and we are also doing something on Sunday… that has morphed beyond control. And the latest morph is pretty cool.
We were going to take the 4 year old and some of his friends to a hockey game on Sunday. He is a good Big Brother, and he has wanted to take friends to games all year. So, we thought it would be fun for some of his friends to go to a game and this Sunday seemed like a good option. We were going to make it a bit of a party for Jackson… just using Garrett’s friends as the party-goers.
–Cool thing #1.
And then the Thrashers announced their “Cross Ice Jamboree” for the kids that have been skating cross ice all year. It will be a couple hours before the game. Some of the friends expressed an interest in watching the Jamboree, which is basically a practice session… and there might be some players participating.
–Cool thing #2.
And then we got a call this week from the Thrashers… They have asked Garrett to play in a scrimmage during the period break between the 1st and 2nd periods. So, in front of a bunch of his buds, he gets to not only practice on NHL game ice, but to actually play a short (5 minute) scrimmage on NHL game ice in front of up to 15,000 people.
–Cool thing #3.
The part that blows a little is that he really isn’t good. He doesn’t know that, and his friends probably won’t know either, because they’ll have a terrible time trying to figure out which short guy he is… (He’ll likely be the smallest one). I’m just hoping he can keep his concentration up for 5 minutes and go after the puck.
Regardless, I will be one VERY proud Dad.
