As is the tradition, I have scoured the internet in order to find the cutting edge…
I think these clips aired on the same episode of Top Gear. I don’t know what to say… you just have to watch… both.
I ran across a story from the LA Times.
It seems that in LA there is a problem with people and their garages. Despite the fact that homes with 2 and 3 and more car garages is increasing, households with 3 or more cars are increasing pretty fast too. And there is a bigger problem… People are filling their garages with their junk, not their cars.
Ok, that isn’t the real problem. The real problem is that people are getting territorial over their parking spots on the street. Even to the point of shooting their neighbors for parking in the street in front of their home… seriously.
There are a few answers for this terrible dilemma…
So, you thought I was in this real estate thing for selfish purposes… but now you can see that I am saving lives… one big garage at a time.
;^ )
It is better than mediation!
First, here is a video…
The Thrashers played the Caps tonight. The Caps jumped out to an early lead, but the Thrashers came back to score 3 unanswered goals. Going into the 3rd period, the Thrashers had played great hockey, and controlled the game. They had a 3 – 1 lead, and looked to be in a position to hold it.
Here is a link to the game tonight…
Then came the 3rd period…
The Caps scored 4 unanswered goals. Not just that… the Thrashers weren’t there. They were outshot 23 to 2. Keri Lehtonen just couldn’t keep up.
So, let’s talk about real estate…
I’m going to say something that many agents don’t want to say… If it is for sale, your house is in competition. Let’s think about it for a minute.
One of the first things almost every agent does is perform a Competitive Market Analysis, or CMA. We look at the other homes that are currently listed… the competition.
So, a good agent makes sure that the house is well prepared… staged. We make sure that it is well marketed. And we make sure that it is properly priced coming out of the gate.
If we fail at any one of these, we can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Here is the bottom line… A house that looks better than the competition, marketed better than the competition and priced to beat the competition… will be sold before the competition!
In this market, where only 1 of 3 or 4 or 5 or 10 homes that goes onto the market will end up selling during its initial listing period, if your goal is to get your home sold, call an agent that has the same goal. I look forward to your call. Take a look at GarageHomesUSA.com for the latest offers on new listings.
This Sunday I decided to go with a little POV (Point of View). So, there are two videos and a bonus video.
The first video is a cult classic. In the days before internet videos, it was only available on VHS… and VERY rare. So, if you were lucky enough to know someone that knew someone else that had a friend who’s cousin’s boyfriend had a copy… you might get to see it.
The soundtrack was later dubbed in from a Ferrari 275GTB… and oh what sound. Through independent verification by analyzing the sites, it is verified that the car reached 136mph. Keep in mind that the director was unable to get a permit and the roads were open. He was also arrested when the film was shown. The driver has never been identified. Claude Lelouch – C`était un Rendezvous (1976)This video is 8:39.
The next clip is a POV from one of the most insane motorcycle races in the world.
The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT)
The IOMTT is a timed event. While there is passing, the bikes are released at intervals and run the course. This video is a lap. It spans 18:46, and includes pulling out of the pit area. The single lap record is 17:22, and that is an average speed of just over 130mph. If you have ever thought of taking a full on racing motorcycle and run through average roads… you are going to like this. This isn’t an antiseptic course with run-off areas and soft barriers. And the sound…
The bonus is a view of a 130mph lap from aerial and location cameras around the course. It runs just over 7 minutes. What I find amazing is to see the front wheel wobble under braking or after the jumps. It truly would scare the poop out of me. But it is amazing to watch.
Ok, these are digital tools… All of them are right here. in front of you right now. You probably use a few of them…
1. Ebay. Pretty obvious, right. Regardless of what you are looking to find, there is a good chance it is being sold either new or used on Ebay. Cars, tools, decor… even whole garages and homes (ok, for the homes, give me a call…)
2. Craigslist. A lot of people are using this. If you aren’t familiar, it is like the old “nickel ad” papers… without the nickels. The ads are free to post and free to surf. Searching can be tough, though. Craigslist is killing newspaper classifieds. And a nifty search tool is crgslst… until it gets shut down. They have a multi-city search tool. But, similar sites have been shut down by Craig before.
3. Hemmings Motor News. HMN has been THE place for everything car since the earth cooled. Seriously. When I was in the restoration business forever ago, I had one of the First Class subscriptions so I could get the book faster. Now, with the internet, everyone can get the ads faster.
4. Your local car clubs. Ok, this isn’t strictly a single tool, but a plethora of tools. Regardless of the particular type of vehicles you favor, there are local and regional clubs. Not only are the people that have an incredible depth of technical knowledge… there are always people that may have what you want, and you might have what they want… Trade away.
5. RSS Feeds. Oooo. Did I catch you with that one? Most of these sites, and many of the other sites you might also scour regularly have RSS feeds. By subscribing to the RSS feed, you get new information as it is updated. So, if you have a search set up for 65 Mustang Parts on Ebay or HMN, when an ad that meets those criteria shows up… you get it. Instead of going out to search all of the time, let the search come to you.
Bonus. Google. This is almost a no-brainer. But, it is odd how often I hear people looking for something odd and they haven’t Googled it. I mean a “Long-Tail” Google search. If you are looking for Ford GT-40 Heads for sale, Google it. (I got 20,000 hits…) There is a fair chance that you got to my blog the first time from a Google search. In fact, the most popular ones involves two of these three words: Cool, Garage, Homes.
Right behind that is Gwinnett County Homes. Still working on getting that one higher in the results.
Thanks for stopping by. When you are ready to find a cool garage home, let me know. I have actually built quite a network of car friendly agents across the country.
