Pardon the dust…

There are a couple of things going on here at the moment.  Here is the basic run down:

  • Tagging all of the posts.
  • Fixing links.
  • Editing content presentation.

Basically, I have been really bad about tagging posts.  The tag cloud was terribly incomplete.  So, I have been going back and tagging posts for a week now.  There are over 400 posts… lots of them need to be tagged.

After the tagging is complete, I need to go back into the older Blog Anthologies and fix the links so that they point here instead of the old Blogger platform that I don’t use any more.  I also need to fix other links from post to post to make sure they are linking to the current platform.

Finally, I am changing the longer posts to include a “Read More” tab to make the post use up less real estate on the front page.  Shorter posts won’t be affected, but the longer posts won’t require endless scrolling to get to the next entry.

In all, I want to make the blog friendlier for readers.  None of this is really going to affect the search engine optimization of the site (fixing the links may…), but it will make the site much easier to navigate.

Thank you for your patience.

Price Reductions…

We’ve had to adjust the prices for two offered properties in the last two days.  These are both great deals compared to their comps.

August Issue of GarageHomesUSA is up, and…

… the August Market Report (covering July preliminary numbers and June final numbers) is up as well.

I will probably modify it a little more, but the main things are in place.  FMLS doesn’t get numbers out until a few days into the months, but they are out and so I have had a chance to parse them, slice ’em, dice ’em and make them talk to me.

I am again using the PowerPoint format for the Market Report.  It seems to deliver a little more info in a more easily digestible way.

Here is a link to the August Issue of GarageHomesUSA.  Enjoy.

Lilburn and Localism

For a little over a year I have been a member of a real estate social networking site called Active|Rain.  For the whole time there has been a sister platform called Localism.  And also for that whole period of time, Localism has been in a beta stage.

**Side note.  Beta stage means that it wasn’t really done, but was running full speed.**

The beta Localism platform was nice, but wasn’t great.  It pulled a fair amount of search traffic from Google, and that was always great… but it wasn’t sticky.  That means that people would do a search, go to the result, read it and then leave.

The new site isn’t that way.  And it isn’t all about real estate.  Make no doubt, real estate is front and center right now, but as the the site matures, real estate won’t be the center.

So, Localism has been completely redesigned, and it isn’t in beta any more.  And it is pretty cool.

Anyway, on to the point…

Come on in and take a look at Lilburn.  Look around.  Let me know what you think.  I’ll be adding more content, as will all of the other participants.  In fact, ANYONE can join and contribute content for Localism.  Come on in, the water is fine.

What is Hyper-Local Content, and why do you care?

Not really a sexy topic…  Mini TownBut, one of the more important things we can talk about.  Let’s start with a definition…

Hyper-Local Content is writing about a certain specific area.  For example, writing about the goings on, events, properties and market activity for Lilburn, GA… as opposed to writing about the Atlanta market or the national housing picture.

I would be the first to say that the Atlanta housing market is important.  Even the national picture is worthy of examination, but for those of us in and around Lilburn, what is happening on Main Street is more important than what is happening on Peachtree Street.

In the next couple of weeks we will be rolling out a hyper-local blog about Lilburn, GA.  We will be talking about properties on the market, transactions, market trends, local businesses, places to go, people to meet and things to do.  We’ll talk about Parkview Football, and we’ll talk about developments.

If you are a local business, and would like to write a post, let me know.  Not an ad… a post.  Got a garage sale?  Selling your home without an agent?  Think someone should be profiled?  Shoot me an email.

Stay tuned for the new web address and the announcement that it is ready to go.
