Come and Get It – Hockey Camp wrap-up

Wow… If you hadn’t seen previously, Garrett has spent the last week in the Come and Get It Hockey Camp, put on by Dan Sullivan of the Gwinnett Gladiators. And let me tell you, he has had a BLAST.
For 8 hours a day, over 5 days, he has been up to his ears in hockey. The kids were on the ice for 3 one hours sessions each day, as well as off-ice physical activity as well as strategy and meal breaks.
Each day went something like this:
- breakfast buffet
- Power Skating
- snack
- Strategy/break (for the little guys)
- Stick/Puck Handling
- lunch
- Physical Games
- Scrimmage Game
The staff of 6 coaches as well as several off-ice assistants kept the kids busy and in line. And after hanging out with the kids much of the day today… they were eating VERY well.
And also check out the camp’s write up in the Gwinnett Daily Post. My kid’s picture made the front page of the newspaper… Here is the story.
Underdogs… and why they are fun!
I have a general preference for underdogs. I can’t say for sure why, but I can make up a few good reasons…

- What fun is it to cheer for the team that always wins? There isn’t any suspense. When you cheer for the underdog, the outcome is in doubt… it also makes the wins sweeter!
- I guess I have a hero complex. I didn’t like to see kids getting bullied on the playground as a kid, and I would rather throw my support to the “bullied” than to the “bully”.
- Often the favorite isn’t the best… just the most popular. It isn’t just true in sports, but in politics and many other areas.
There are a LOT of great underdogs to cheer for. Some are just for fun, others are more serious.
Look for my list of the Top Ten Underdogs coming up before New Year’s Eve…
Parkview High School Football Schedule/Results
There are a lot of Parkview football fans in Lilburn. We visit some of the games, and the fans offer enthusiastic support. There are quite a few like my family that don’t yet have a Parkview student… some have a future Parkview student, others have alums in the family or are alums themselves.
If you are looking to keep up with Parkview Football, I’ll keep the scores updated here and on Lilburn Dwellings.

Lane’s New Video Channel
I have just struck a deal with The Video Connector to provide video content for my sites. Look for lots of cool videos from Tara and TJ from Reel Productions. They have been the providers of my video tours for a couple of years now, and really have a handle on the real estate market. Enjoy.
