I am NOT a “Buy American” guy when it comes to cars.  I’m also not a “If it is foreign, it is better” guy.  Lastly, I am very much not a GM guy.  In fact, looking over the bunches of vehicles I have owned, there is only one GM car, and that was a Saturn that my father left me… and that may have been the only GM car HE had (ok, he wasn’t a car guy, so it almost doesn’t count).

All of that said, I am thinking of getting a “real estate car.”  You know, something to shuttle clients in and to tour properties.  It needs to be a 4 door.  It needs to be reasonably priced.  It needs to be comfortable.  It needs to get reasonable fuel mileage. Not boring (I am THE Car Guy REALTOR®)

Please note, I did NOT say it needs to be American, foreign, GM, Ford, Acura or anything else.  I am attracted to vehicles for their features…

And I know what I want.

And it is American… and a GM… and foreign.  huh?

I am really liking the Pontiac G8 GT.  And if you didn’t know, they are built in Australia on a Holden platform (Holden is the Australian arm of GM).  It sports a 361hp 6.0L v8.  And yet it gets 25mpg on the highway.  I have to say that it does look a little “boy racer” for me.  But it isn’t terrible.  Pontiac isn’t offering a DVD based satellite navigation system, only OnStar… I like the cool maps, but I can always get a GPS unit.  The 2008 version has a couple of funky 1970s looking warning lights above the center stack… fixed for 2009.

So, I like the looks.  I like the fuel mileage (keep in mind that I currently drive an F350 that gets about 17 with diesel fuel).  I like the ride.

Now I just have to convince my wife…
