Detachment…

Lane Bailey - Friday, 31 October 2008 10:48

Being detached has its advantages. It’s being at an arm’s length…

In rockcrawling, there is the driver, and the vehicle… but that isn’t the whole team. There is another person. The other person examines the line, tunes it, pushes, pulls and cajoles the driver and the vehicle to get him through the course.

It is the spotter.

In many ways, the spotter is like a good real estate agent. The driver can see the course, just as the seller can see the market. But, both have their limitations. The driver is limited by the vehicle… he can’t see what is under or on the other side. Even obstacles that are directly ahead may be hidden by the hood. But the spotter can move around and see all of the options and pitfalls.

The seller is often unable to truly see their home as others will see it. There are emotional attachments, as well as financial attachments. But the good agent sees scores of homes in the area… understands how they stack up and how they differ. That agent also understands buyer behavior. And because he is at an arm’s length, he can see how these all fit together.

The driver is strapped into the vehicle, but the spotter is mobile. Maybe there needs to be a rock under the right front tire, maybe there needs to be a line attached to the front bumper with some pull to counterbalance the Jeep. The driver can’t do it. Maybe the house needs to be staged or it needs a particular type of marketing that isn’t within the reach of the seller… or the seller can’t even tell because they are too close to their property.

Properties listed with agents sell for more money faster than those that aren’t.

I love driving without a spotter… but I also know that there are limits. When I get into the tough stuff, I call upon a spotter I can trust. My vehicle is in their hands. It could be damaged and I could be hurt if they make a mistake. I also spend a lot of time spotting for others on the trail… they know that I take it seriously because I know the dangers.

I’m ready to spot for you and help you sell your house faster and for more than it otherwise may sell for. I take it seriously. I know the dangers.

That is why I want to be YOUR real estate agent.
