Get the E-newsletter!

Beginning a week or so into March, I will be producing an electronic newsletter to be mailed out.  It will carry highlight articles from Garage with a Detached Home and GarageHomesUSA.

I have mailed a few hard-copies out to selected addresses, and you are always welcome to be added to that list as well, but the electronic version will be cooler.

I’d love to add you to the list, and send out your newsletter as soon as it becomes available.

**As a note, we will never sell, trade or otherwise give away your email address or any other personal information, unless specifically directed to by you.  All information you provide is confidential.  We are not in the mailing list business, and our goal is to provide you with pertinent and appropriate content, not gather email addresses or other information.**

I’m having an email issue!

I have figured out that I am having a problem with email delivery. The issue so seems to revolve around addresses that come from:

  • Google G-mail
  • Yahoo mail

If there are others, I don’t know about them yet. We are trying to figure out what the deal is… but, it is tough to know what I haven’t received. So, if you have sent me an email that I should have responded to, and I didn’t respond, I’m not ignoring you. I really want to hear from you. Feel free to call my mobile number, 678-200-5895, or contact me through my contact form (link at the top of the page).

I value contact from my clients, readers and consumers. I can’t be in business if I don’t value both you and your communications. And, I hate that it might seem that I don’t value you or your email.

So, I apologize. Please don’t give up on me yet…

Thanks,

Lane

***Update, 2/22***  I think we have it back under control.  The whole email system seemed to have melted down yesterday.  If you tried to email me through my contact form or email addresses… I didn’t get it.  We seem to have the problems sorted out… but I’m still worried about Gmail and Yahoo…  My host needs a talking to.

Did you see the new logo?

Garage Homes USA LogoI have added it to my GarageHomesUSA site, and also put it up here.  What do you think?  I had to tweak it a little… just the hot rodder in me.

I will be using this logo with the new media buys we are setting up.  As soon as things are solidified, I’ll announce it here.  You might also see the logo in other places as well.

So, please feel free to share your thoughts about the new logo.  At the very least, it’s got to be better than looking at my face…

How cool is this?

If you are a buyer, how would you like to be able to hit a virtual tour for a house you are interested in, and then pull up the floor plan and load your furniture into the house to see how it fits?

You could pull your cars into the garage. Check to see how the speakers can be arranged in the media room. Make sure that there is a good workflow pattern to the kitchen. Make sure that your furniture fits and can be arranged with good groupings and traffic patterns.

As a buyer, would that make you more interested in the house?

But wait, there’s more…

How about if there were pictures of the rooms and outside of the house… and you could go in and redecorate. Change the floors to hardwoods. Paint the walls. Paint the house.

Would that help to make you more interested in the house?

As a seller, wouldn’t you want to have THAT kind of experience for the people interested in your home? Wouldn’t that rate better than a couple of fuzzy shots from someone’s low resolution phone camera? Want to see it? Call me…  My next listing will be getting this for free.

Isn’t technology cool?

Are you CPR Certified?

AED instructionFebruary is National Heart Health Month.  And, for those that haven’t been paying attention, my lovely wife and I are expecting kid two in about a month.  So, in preparation for that event, we decided to take a CPR/First Aid class.  The hospital requires one if the baby is under a certain weight (I think that he has already passed that weight, and he isn’t out yet…) before the parents can bring the child home.  We did a class before Garrett (kid one) was born, and even in the short four years since, there have been changes in techniques, technologies and best practices.Gail practicing the Hiemlich

Gail being the veteran planner set up a course with a local instructor.  The curriculum included children’s First Aid, AED usage, and CPR for adults, children and infants.  The class was about 4 1/2 hours… with a small class (three of us).  The great thing for us was that we were able to clear a spot at the house and have the class here.

The instructor was David Scott (not the Congressman), and he is certified by the American Heart Association as the Red Cross.

I have had these classes previously.  In addition to the children and infant CPR, my 4wd club has an Automatic External Defibrillator and we’ve held classes for its use.  Unfortunately, my adult first aid training is pretty old… but not any more.

The price of the class was very reasonable.  Even with the small group size, it was under $60/person… and way more convenient than driving 45 minutes to get to the class.  David demonstrating CPR

If you are interested in getting up to date on the latest in first aid… which I recommend to EVERYONE… just do it.  David owns and operates CPR First and can be reached at DScottCPRFirst at aol.com (address modified for the benefit of the spam bots… use the @ instead of “at”).  Shoot me a message through my contact form if you would like his phone number.

As James Dean said in his traffic safety PSA back in the 1950s, the life you save may be mine.  Hopefully I won’t need it, though.  In fact, I would hope that nobody really needs to ever use any of this training, but we should all prepare in case there is a need.

Enjoy the game tomorrow… I’ll probably talk about some commercials Monday…
